St Bees Playground

The main children's playground is to be found by the Main Beach, where a number of adventure style apparatus, as well as the standard swings, slides, etc. are to be found.

There is a second smaller playground adjacent to the primary school playing field at the foot of Outrigg. Of course the biggest playground is the beach. The beach is gently sloping and generally free from dangerous currents.

However, as always, caution should be exercised when in the water, particularly with off-shore winds. The beach is a magnificent shingle beach with dozens of varieties of stones sloping down to good red sand. The sandy areas are accessible at all times except for 2 or 3 hours on either side of high tide, when only the shingle is clear of the water.
