Baptistery Area and Village History

Baptistery Area planThis area will be enlarged slightly, moving the existing east partition to the edge of the first window. (See drawings). Pews will be removed, and some more comfortable replacements installed. The font will be moved and in its place there will be some sort of child friendly activity centre for visitors. Where the font will be moved to is still under discussion. Villagers and visitors views on this subject would be very welcome.

Display areaThe use of the Baptistery area as a children’s area during services will be retained with suitable tables and chairs for children. If possible, some degree of sound proofing will be included. The walls will be used for a series of panels which will display a time line of the area’s history. The existing memorial tablets will not be covered in any way.

New lighting will be installed to make the area brighter.

The nave facing walls of this area will be used as notice boards; the north facing ones for church use and the east facing ones will continue to be used for variable history displays produced by the History Group and others.
