Lady Chapel, Josefina de Vasconcellos and the Sleeping Child Garden

The Lady Chapel contains a work by Josefina de Vasconcellos, the Vision of Bega, (a sculpture of Mary and child and Bega).

Lady Chapel

A small display about Josefina and her work, her donation of the sculptures in the Sleeping Child Garden, a tranquil space for all those who have suffered the loss of a young life, before or after birth, to come and find comfort. The second panel is about Bega and her story.

We have placed a Memorial Book (not shown in this photo) between the two panels for those who wish to enter a memorial about their lost child.

Should you wish to do so, and are unable to visit the Priory, you may send the words, and if you want, a photo to us at the address below, and we will do it for you. If you prefer, it may be emailed to me via this site. Basically you have an A4 sheet to put whatever you wish on it. There is no charge for this, but should you wish to make a donation to help maintain and develop the Garden, it would be gratefully received.

Cheques should be made out to St Bees Priory (Sleeping  Child Garden) and sent to The Treasurer, St Bees, Cumbria, CA27 0AN.
