Publications

Parish Magazine - Access to this is restricted because it contains information which could be thought as being "village personal". Although this information is in the public domain, some prefer this restriction to be in place.

If you have already registered and have an Id and password, please select Parish Magazine. You will be prompted for the Id and password at that stage.

If you are not a registered user, read on!

The parish publishes a monthly magazine, which is of particular interest to ex-patriates as well as relations and friends of villagers. Access to that is controlled, but if you have a particular interest in accessing it, please apply via the registration link for a user name and password. Once you have that, or if you already have them, use the Parish Magazine link to access the magazine.

I apologise for some of these publications not being available currently. They will be added as soon as possible.

Other Publications

Over the past decades, a number of accounts about the village, have been published by villagers. In addition, school and university students have written dissertations on topics with St Bees connections. Other pages have been written specifically for this web site. and some items have been published elsewhere, but adapted here for web-site viewing. I am grateful to Doug Sim who has prepared the web versions of many of these. I am also grateful for the many articles he has also written here.

Many of these accounts can be found here but others are located where they are perhaps more appropriate - under Churches or School for example. A few items we have simply duplicated and placed in more than one section because that seemed more appropriate. Most are interlinked as needed.

The account of the famous "St Bees Man" find, which has been the subject of a number of documentaries by American television companies, sadly, the UK has failed to produce much about this remarkable archaeological event.

"100 Years of St. Bees" has been put under publications in its entirety because it is now out of print.

I am indebted to the various people concerned for their permission to reproduce their publications. I would ask that anyone quoting from their work to ensure that full and proper credit is given to the individuals concerned, and that they seek permission for use of the material.

If you have written anything about the history of St Bees and would like it included here, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Ian McAndrew, March 2007
