Died of pneumonia Bray-sur-Somme 1917, aged 41

J BanksFrom 'St. Bees School Roll of Honour and Record of Service' page 42:

" Private J. Banks joined the Border Regiment in April 1916, and went out to France early in November. About the end of February 1917 he contracted pneumonia, and died on March 14th, at one of the casualty clearing stations. He was at St. Bees School from 1887 to 1892."
