Arms of King George V

Roll of Honour

Oswald Rees Keene
2nd Bn Duke of Wellington's Regiment

Died of effects of Gas, Ypres - Hill 60, 1915, aged 24

(It might seem odd that the son of the Rector of Gosforth is commemorated on our memorial. However, he had been born in St. Bees, his father the Revd Rees Keene having been lecturer at the St. Bees Theological College from 1887 to 1895. The Revd Rees Keeene is chiefly remembered as the instigator of the fund which provided our magnificent "Willis" organ.- Ed)
