Local Walk 4

This circular walk is to the south of the village, commencing and ending at the Seamill Lane Car Park. It includes track and field paths and can be quite Walk No 4muddy in wet weather. Some of the styles and gates can be difficult to negotiate for the less agile and non-climbing dogs!

This route is part of the old coffin route used by mourners taking coffins to St Bees for burial and a recently restored "coffin rest" can be seen on the route. The route also passes the original St Bees golf course.

At the Coulderton end of the walk, there is a choice of an easier walk back along the road or a much harder (and not recommended at high tide) walk back along the shore. This later route is over mainly stones with little flat beach, and can be hard work. However, this route is part of the Cumbrian Coastal Way.

This is a 4 mile (6Km) walk which takes about 2 hours.
