Starting at the Station car park, it continues up "Pitman's Trod" up over the hill. The path crosses three fields though there is a right of way across them and the farmer is obliged to maintain a track. Use the Bigrigg TV transmitter as a guide. After passing through Loughrigg Farm, the track gives fine views of Dent, Ennerdale, and the whole panorama of the Western Fells. After passing what is left of the Common, the track joins the Egremont - St Bees road and returns to St Bees via the steep hill known as Outrigg. At the foot of the hill, turn right to return to your starting point.

This walk takes about 2 hours and covers a distance of around 3 miles (5 Kms). It provides fine views of St Bees Head and the Western Fells.
