Visiting St Bees? These are your travel options.

There is a regular train service between Carlisle & Barrow and back, with a stop in St Bees for all trains. Carlisle is a Main Line station but Barrow connects to the main lines.

Clearly the most flexible method if starting your trip in the UK. Less useful for those travelling from overseas. B2C walkers would possibly face a parking problem.

There are national bus services to Whitehaven, and these can be considered, if you are on a tight budget. However, they are much slower than rail.

Unfortunately it is not quite as easy as the picture implies – landing on St Bees beach, though the beach is possibly long enough, is not available!

St Bees has a launching ramp, but St Bees Bay with its exposed west facing shore, and gradually shelving surf beach, is not a convenient anchorage for the sailors amongst you!
